Kara is a Licensed Massage Therapist, a Certified Polarity Practitioner, as well as a practitioner of Thai Massage. Kara graduated from Spa Tech Institute (formerly Polarity Realization Institute) in 2005 from the Holistic Massage Therapy Program. As part of this year long 600 hour course, 120 hours of Polarity Therapy were included. During both her training in Yoga and Bodywork Kara was introduced to Thai Massage when she studied with Jonas Westring in 2004, and again in June of 2008 when she assisted him in a workshop at Kripalu. Kara continues to study Thai Massage with her AcroYoga Teachers Jenny Sauer-Klein and Jason Nemer.
Thai Massage
Thai Massage is a blend of passive yoga stretches, accupressure, and massage and is based on Ayurvedic principals. It is done on a pad on the floor and fully clothed. The practitioner uses their whole body to assist in the massage, and not only works on the physical body, but is also actively clearing and aligning the energetic system, while working with the 10 major sen lines.
Polarity Therapy
Polarity Therapy is an integrative energy-based therapeutic healing modality. Polarity Therapy is a natural health care
system based upon the universal principles of energy: attraction,
repulsion, and neutrality. The interrelation of these principles forms
the basis for every aspect of life, including our experience of health,
wellness and disease.
With this understanding, Polarity Therapy addresses the
interdependence of body, mind, and spirit; the importance of
relationships; the value of creating a way of life in harmony with
nature.
Swedish massage alleviates stiffness and fatigue as well as improves
circulation. Swedish Massage is generally a whole body massage using oils on the skin
to facilitate treatment.
Deep-Tissue
Massage
Deep-Tissue Massage uses slow strokes and deep pressure to work on tight
areas to release specific muscle tension and restore flexibility. Deep-Tissue
Massage is generally slower than Swedish, this technique goes deeper into the
muscle and connective tissue to release chronic tension which might have developed
from injury or overuse.
Prenatal
Massage
Prenatal Massage helps to alleviate lower back pain, water retention,
and sciatica. It also assists in the reduction of swelling, pain and physical and emotional tension. This is a wonderful gift to give yourself if you are pregnant or have someone in your life who is....the Goddess will be grateful for this time of relaxation and rejuvenation!
